Mizoram State Sports Council was established in 1976 to promote sports and games in Mizoram.
There are 33 affiliated State Level Sports Associations and 11 District Sports Committees under Mizoram State Sports Council.
The duties and responsibilities of Mizoram State Sports Council includes -
1) Creation and maintenance of sports infrastructure.
2) Coaching and training of players.
3) Development of Coaches, Officials and Volunteers.
4) Organising competitions, and
5) Participation at Regional, National and International competitions.
Moreover, Mizoram State Sports Council is implementing Central Schemes such as Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) 
, Urban Sports Infrastructure Scheme (USIS) .
